Sunday Morning

This morning I awoke to find little white paws under my door begging me to let them in. I hadn't let them into my room since I've had them, but after seeing this, how could I resist. These little girls have come a long way in this past week, which makes me very happy, indeed. Not only have they both become friendly and loving kittens with Arthur and I, but they've also created bonds with the two dogs we have. We had decided no more fosters this year after Howie and Tucker, but how could we not foster these little darlings. I'm glad we did!

Howie and Tucker Update

I just found out this morning that Howie and Tucker are going to be adopted together. I am told they will be going to a great family. One of the things that mattered most to me was that they stay together because they absolutely LOVE eachother. I hadn't made it mandatory for them to be to adopted together, but I had suggested it be best. I don't know what would happen to them if they were to be separated. They'd probably be lost without one another. Therefore, this is the best news I have gotten in a long while. I have to admit, I cried a little when I received the e-mail about it. It's bitter-sweet to me; although I'll miss them terribly, I'm happy they have a forever home.

Oh my!!!

We had a couple of rounds of scary weather early this morning, full of roaring thunder and crazy lightning. I've never been one to really fear bad weather. As a matter of fact, I've always looked forward to days like these. On my way to work, the lightning was all over the place. It looked sometimes as though the lightning was striking right in front of me even. For the first time probably ever, I found lightning to be quite intimidating. Below are some pictures of a jeep that was struck by lightning this morning not too far from where I am- like within ten miles, I'll say. It makes you wonder. Wow!

Luckily the guy wasn't in his car when it was hit by a bolt of lightning. This happened in the Vought parking this morning.

Nala's Sister

I have yet to decide on a name. She's really pretty, just like her little sister. The only real difference in the two are their eye colors and slight size difference. This one's eyes are green, and a very beautiful shade. She's still having trouble adjusting to us humans, but then again it's only been a couple of hours.

Her first close encounter with a rare canine species, also known as Chloe. Not a flattering picture.

Finally getting in some rest after a rough and stressful evening. Sorry little one, it'll only get better from here on out though. I promise!

Five Reasons I'm Thankful for You

I just wanted to wish my Dad a very special and happy Father's Day. This list could be much longer, but I guess I'll have to narrow it down to just five memorable moments.

1. After reading Holly's post, I have to say, I don't think I enjoyed being placed upon the entertainment center. It truly was a different world up there. Thanks anyhow, it makes me smile now.
2. Thanks for spending your time and your energy building us kids a fort, among other things. Holly, Mark, and I got to spend quality time up there. We made some of the best memories up on that fort with our bucket of China berries.
3. Thanks for teaching us the importance of hard work. I hated the weed pulling, the lawn-mowing, the dishes, the making my bed, really anything that didn't involve Barbies. But I'm glad now that I did all of those things. Plus, playing with Barbies too much may have become boring...maybe not.
4. Thanks for teaching me how to ride a bike. I still remember that feeling when you let go of the seat of my bike. It had been a rough day, many failures, but in the end, there was triumph. I still remember what it felt like to know that I'd finally accomplished my goal (and yours). Thanks, Dad!
5. And lastly, thanks for being our father. I can barely take care of myself, and I could not imagine taking care of five kids. Thanks for working so hard for us. I recently took a quiz to find out how spoiled I was growing up. Turns out I'm as spoiled as it gets, ain't that great. It made me appreciate you that much more knowing that I had what many others didn't. Thank you for everything. I love you!!!

My new foster kitty, Nala

My little boys are officially up for adoption; they're at the adoption center in Petsmart as we speak. Of course, it is not over for me, though I thought is was. It just so happens, there is a litter of the most beautiful kittens here at my complex. They're strays, but I personally don't want any more strays around my apartments, there are enough already as it is. So, I'm making it my duty to kidnap the kitties and foster them until they can be adopted out as well. This evening I was able to snag a little female kitten, who I have named Nala. She is gorgeous, as I'm sure you can see. She's in my lap now, quiet as a mouse. And to think just a mere few hours ago, she was a fierce little lion cub (I got the name from "The Lion King" movie). I'm willing to bet money that she won't be in the adoption center a full 24 hours before she's adopted out to a loving family. Here's the little darling-

She's so beautiful. And I can't believe how fast she was able to warm up to me. I think she's about 6 weeks old if I had to take a guess.

Chillaxin on the futon.

She was so sleepy. Notice the little bit of gray on the top of her head, how cute.

Nine things men should know by now

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. DON'T DO IT!
(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or Faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' ... that will bring on a 'whatever').
(8) Whatever: Is a women's way of saying YOU SUCK!
(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

I think I just sorta tagged myself.

Seeing as I'm super bored at work and have noone but myself to talk to, I figured I'd take the survey that Melissa had posted on her blog. Who knows, by the end of the day, I may have 50 of these little boogers posted, just to give me something to do.

A) Four places I visit over and over:
-Work (unfortunately)
-Wal-Mart
-Target
-The pool
B ) Four people who email me (regularly):
-My co-workers (all ten thousand of them)
-My sister, Holly
-Bed,Bath,andBeyond
-Brigitte
C) Four places I like to eat:
-Ton's Mongolian Grill
-China King Super Buffet
-Chili's
-Outback
D) Four places I'd rather be right now:
-At home
-In the pool
-In CC with my family
-Italy, just because
E) Four TV shows (movies) I would watch over and over:
-Pride and Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth playing Darcy)
-Steel Magnolias (and I'd probably cry each time I watched it)
-Galaxy Quest
-Home Alone
F) Four People I'm tagging:
Rachel
Tiffany T
Chrystina
Or anyone interested in playing

Happy Birthday Maya!

Today was my little Maya's first birthday. We celebrated the evening with ice cream for the humans and some canned dog food with Pup corn for the canines. They loved it, for the most part. Maya wasn't too sure about those cheese flavored pup corn pieces. :) After they ate, Maya "opened" her present and was delighted to have new toys. She's still running around with them as I'm typing this. So cute! A fellow blogger had asked once if she was crazy for "throwing a party" for her pups. Of course not!!! I think of my dogs as my children, and they deserve the best, even if they don't understand what's going on. It's the thought that matters, and I hope Maya enjoyed her special day. I know I won't be enjoying the aftermath of it all- it's gonna be like sleeping with a couple of stink-bombs tonight. Just lovely! I can't wait...
