I've been Boo-ed!!!

Yesssss, all of my wildest dreams have come true. My sister, Holly, Boo-ed me today. So now it's my job to pass on the Boo to a few of my pals. Here are the Boo-dicrous rules:

Go to as many friends as you want and tell them they've been "B00-ed". Have them link back to your blog to pick up their Halloween Treat (picture) and tell them to Boo their friends. These past couple of years, I've always been super excited to carve my very own pumpkin for Halloween. I have to get excited about something, okay?!? I'm certainly not getting my hopes up as far as handing out candy to all the kiddos that come knocking on my door. Last year I didn't get a single one. I was very sad! :( Poor me. So this year, I won't be buying any candy (okay, maybe a very small bag, just in case). Anyhoo, back to my pumpkin. Arthur was also going to carve his own too, but changed his mind and just bought one pumpkin. I think he knew his pumpkin would probably look super puny next to mine. lol Maybe he made the right decision by not carving one. hee hee

Basketweave???

So this weekend I decided I'd try something new in cake decorating. I've never really tried my hand at decorating much, so I thought I'd see if I could successfully do a basketweave. I wouldn't call it successful, but it's definitely a start. I soon realized I was using the wrong consistency when decorating, so that made it even more difficult to do. Towards the end I was just to tired to even try to make the piping look good. I seriously just went crazy with it along the bottom and top. The top was supposed to be a rope- I need more practice with that one. But all in all, I still find this fun to do. This was a first for me, hopefully not the last. By the way, I piped out "Eat Me" along the top of the cake. I'm sure my co-workers won't have a problem with that. lol

Hallelujah!

Since our summer dress code has ended, we can no longer wear open-toed shoes. So today I had to wear my boots to work. While finding my dress socks to wear with them, I came across something I thought I'd lost months and months ago. My iPod! Actually it was Arthur's iPod, which made the whole situation worse. I had felt so awful for losing it, and now I don't have to worry about buying him a new one (they're not cheap). I can't tell you how ecstatic I was to see it sitting there in my top drawer; at first I was shocked, but soon that shock turned to elation. I immediately ran out of the bedroom to show Arthur. And to think I almost bought a new one just this past week. I recently started exercising again, and it's so much harder having to do it without some music to listen to. I am happy to announce that now I have my music back! Yay!!!

It's not difficult to tell the sex of a cat

...but a kitten is sometimes not so easy. Alright, I made a bit of a mistake when I said Doogan was a boy kitten. It just so happens, he is a she. That's right, this whole time I've been calling her a him. I feel like an idiot! lol I even took her to the vet and the vet didn't bother to notice he was a she either. I was so surprised (obviously) when I got the e-mail after I dropped her off to get neutered that she didn't have anything to neuter. She did get fixed, but not in the way I had originally thought. Of course, I did come up with a new name for her. I couldn't find a name that sounded like Doogan, so I just named her Daphne. It still starts with a "d", I wanted something to be similar about it. I just feel so stupid. But I will try to explain myself- I only checked the kitten once to see about the sex. She was much smaller then (just 6 weeks), and I never bothered to check since. If I had, I know I would have seen the difference myself, but I didn't. Well, I've learned my lesson- I'm certainly not as perfect as I thought I was! lol

Natasha's Surprise Baby Shower

Today we held Natasha's baby shower and it turned out so well. Though there wasn't time for games and such, we had great food and even better company. Everyone involved with setting this up did such a wonderful job decorating, preparing the food, and buying gifts. You know who you are! I volunteered to make the cake for the shower, as I had most everything needed to make a cake. We were on a budget; plus, I really do enjoy decorating. It's a lot of fun (tedious but fun). I posted so many pictures today so that everyone who couldn't be there could see all the pictures that were taken. I can't wait to see little baby Brandon, due the end of December. :)

Today I came across this little baby maker and let me just say that this is hilarious! I love it! I highly recommend it, and I know you want to try it. My New Cricut Machine

Arthur suprised me one day with this nifty little cricut machine. At first I was saying, "What is it?", but after opening it up and reading the instruction manual and uses, I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I'm no scrapbooking genius, and as a matter of fact, I've never scrapbooked (I don't think). Does it count if you were really young and unwilling? I have nothing to scrapbook, but I am finding other uses for this little gadget. I can make my own greeting cards, crafty cut-outs for other projects (don't ask what they are), and I believe there's even an option to create and punch out your own charms (you'd have to go out and buy the proper tool for working with metal). Since Arthur is out of town this weekend and I am super bored, I thought I'd try this thing out and see what I can do with it. So far, I'm very pleased with the results. For some reason, I had the sudden urge to add the theme to Kill Bill to my playlist. I have no idea why, I guess the cricut is to blame. Why is there a line under what I'm typing? Okay, well I don't know how to get rid of this so I guess the line stays...

Not only did Arthur bring home the machine for me, but also eight other cartridges to use with it (it already comes with one). Everything from Disney cut-outs and lettering to school things and Christmas.


A card I made just for fun. Maybe I'll save this one and send it out to someone special this year. Maybe not.


Now for a little demonstration of how easy it is to use. With just the touch of a few buttons, voila, it's all done. Here is the beginning of another project. This is me cutting out the first piece in a series of many other pieces. I am cutting out a paper doll in this video.


Now that I have all the pieces I need, all I need to do is use my handy dandy little glue stick and put it all together.

Halloween Costumes

I went to Petsmart the other day and just couldn't resist picking up a couple of costumes for Chloe and Maya. Though I'll probably end up returning the costumes (I don't think they're going trick-or-treating this year or ever), I thought I'd take a couple of pictures of the girls in them before I did.
Here is Chloe in her beautiful Snow White costume. I think she really loved it. If you look closely, Maya is in the background to Chloe's right. She's totally giving Chloe the stink-eye; I think she was jealous of Chloe's rockin' Snow White dress. :)
Chloe always does this to me. I start taking pictures and then she refuses to look at me. I think maybe she doesn't like the flash of the camera. Either that or she's just plain rude. hee hee
I love the way the back of the dress looks. It's so pretty, and I just love the way the back laces up. Precious! I honestly think Chloe makes a perfect Snow White, don't you?
Poor Maya! Unfortunately the costumes I really liked weren't in her size. Heck this one barely fits. The part of the bee costume that fits on her head was too loose and kept falling back. :( She was still sulking when I took these pictures because she really wanted a princess dress like her sister. Sorry Maya, maybe next year.
She kept wanting to lay down and hide her face. lol

Daphne Slideshow

I have nothing else to post about right now so I thought I'd fill up a spot and show off some photos that I've taken of Daphne so far. I enjoy taking pictures, I'm no professional but it's something I like to do. Since Daphne is new to our household, she's been my recent subject. She's such a funny little girl and so full of energy.
This weekend we had thought about going to the State Fair, but I've been a little under the weather for the past couple of days so we have to postpone it. Maybe next weekend I'll have something more exciting to blog about.

It's a girl

Today I got another little foster baby to care for. She's six weeks old and beautiful as can be. Her little green ares are so mesmerizing, as are her little expressions. She makes the cutest faces! I have yet to decide on a name. So maybe you can help me make my decision. I've posted a poll on the sidebar of some names that I'm considering. If you have a name that you think fits and it's not on my list, you're welcome to share. The more the merrier. :)

I posted this picture to show how little she is. To me, she looks more petite than the other kittens I've had at six weeks of age. I'll have to start feeding him more to fatten up that little belly of hers. She sure would be a cute fat little kitty!

It's Potty Time!

Yesterday I drove into Dallas, where I finally picked up Howie and Tucker. It was so exciting to see them again, I wasn't sure how they'd react. It's almost as if they remembered all of us, though. The reunion was so sweet; I was nervous about how the dogs and the two cats would react to one another. Maya's little tail just wouldn't stop wagging and the cats kept rubbing up against Maya and Chloe. Seeing as Chloe has always just kept her distance (she merely just puts up with the others), I was most concerned about her. She was such a good girl and didn't seem bothered to have them here again. It couldn't have worked out any better and I'm so happy to have the boys back. Ever since watching the movie, Meet the Parents, I've always thought it'd be cool to have a cat use the toilet. I mean, the litter box can really get stinky. Who needs that!?! So, I am going to try and toilet train Tuck and Howie; I couldn't do this with kittens as they could fall in, but now that they're grown I'm all for it. It'll take some time, maybe a month or so, but I think it'll be interesting to try this out. Wish me luck!

It's the first day of Fall...

It's official, whoopeee!!! It's still a little too hot where I live, but at least the cooler air will soon be on it's way. Yay! I'm not much of a summer person, so today is a good day. I love the cool, crisp air of fall, the changing colors of the trees, everything about being outside in the fall is just wonderful really.

Here's a picture of some cupcakes I thought were cute. I don't have any kids, but if I did I'd probably decorate cupcakes to celebrate Fall-Day!

Or maybe these delightful cuppiecakes? Martha Stewart really does have some cute decorating ideas (not too many for fall, though). I know this post is a slightly boring one, but I'm here at work now and it's really slow. I have nothing else to do now to occupy my time. So there!
